Boards of Review:

  • Boards of Review will be once per month, with the dates set ahead of time. Special circumstances (usually involving an upcoming 18th birthday) will continue to allow a second Board date within a month. When an e-mail goes out requesting availability confirmations, parents, please respond if you will definitely be there and can volunteer.
  • The Scout shall have his Handbook, Class A shirt, and neckerchief for all Boards for First Class and below.
  • The Scout shall have his Handbook, Class A shirt, neckerchief (unless in Venturing uniform), and sash for all Boards for Star and above. With the exception of the Eagle Board, if the recent merit badges haven't yet arrived (due to adults unable to purchase in time to present before the date of the Board), the recent merit badges do not have to be on the sash.

Advancement:

  • Monthly Board of Review night, scheduled ahead of time and done by BOR Committee (group of 3 adults) signed up according to month. Spread sheet time frame TBA
  • to be conducted during Troop Meeting (starting at 6:30), right after bulletins.
  • higher expectation for Star and Life BORs
  • "Active in the Troop" means 2 meetings a month or 1 meeting and 1 event.
  • The Scout should request his Conference ahead of time. No last minute Conferences. A “Scout is Prepared” This conference is to make sure they are prepared for the BOR.
  • SM Conference shouldn’t be done by Adult leaders assisting in program management of the meeting (by the signed up committee members)

"Active leadership"

  • Quartermaster - the month counts if the patrol box gets used (checked out and back in) for an event.
    • The month counts if the patrol box gets used (checked out and back in) for an event. Addendum to be discussed: This can be pretty basic and where’s the accountability on it being stocked by the Scout vs parent?
    • Each Quartermaster, at least twice a year, should present his Patrol box at a Troop meeting, setting the stove up, lighting it (for just a few seconds), and showing contents and asking if anything is needed. Doing this earns the month's credit for the position-of-responsibility advancement requirement.
  • ASPL (and SPL) - present at two meetings, arriving at 6:10, helping through PLC
    • ASPLs, on a rotating basis, are to present a point of the Scout Law at Troop meetings. * PL - two meetings per month
  • Den Chief - one Pack or Den meeting per month
  • ALL LEADERS ABOVE- will attend one Troop outing per quarter

Eagle Scout projects

  • need project development (problem solving by the Scout) and
  • meet the three requirements: planning, development, and leadership.
